Aberration: a small periodic change of apparent position in celestial bodies due to the combined effect of the motion of light and the motion of the observer.

In an age of uncertainty, Katherine Mitchell DiRico questions the very core of how we decide what is real. A common theme in her work, she has created here a “room sized” installation that is ever changing as the sun, our vantage points, and our surroundings change. Various materials - light, mirrors, magnifying lenses, and neon acrylic create optical complexities that cause the viewer to question their location in time and space. Referencing the “selfie” through the use of reflective materials and shifts in scale, she prompts us to reevaluate the constructed nature of reality, and our responsibility within that construction.
